{short description of image} The band took their name from the dictionary meaning of "stealth", : to be sneaky or secretive, because it's the first name that all 4 members gave a positive reaction to and it's NOT from the "stealth plane" like everyone thinks. So consider yourself told!!

It all began officially on May the 4th 1998 when the band played their first performance as a fourpiece in the Mid Wales Music Festival in Newtown. Before that Dylan and Chris played a few local gigs as a duo before they bumped into drummer Dave after an (arranged!?) meeting with Dylan's brother in a pub(half the band still weren't old enough to drink at the time!). These three then played a few gigs around their local town playing both covers and original material even at this early stage.

Rob was drafted in later after expressing an interest in the band and after a distinct lack of bass players in the area (little did the band know that Robbie G. couldn't play a note of his beloved bass guitar!)

After several (intense!!) weeks of rehearsal Rob managed to learn to play bass to the Stealth songs after coaching from Dyl & Chris and the band were ready to go.

With Rob fully in tow, the band were ready for world domination, which they began by playing as many gigs as possible, earning them quite a reputation on the way, with gigs from Cardiff University to playing at the Royal Welsh Show and being told off by the organisers for being too loud!! (Rock and Roll!!!) leading up to their first demo, recorded with Dylan's dad in his portastudio in the middle of the Welsh wilderness in the summer of '98. The band came away with 6 tracks which just showed a glimpse of things to come........

A few months down the road (after several more gigs) the band were once again doing some more recording, this time with the help of Gary Watson from another Llanidloes band (The Naked Glue Boys). Another 6 tracks were laid down on a four-track, some of which even made local radio!!

Throughout the first half of '99, the band played extensivley, improving their playing and confidence no end, leading up to August '99 when the band took the plunge and entered a proper recording studio. The studio of choice was "Foel Studios" owned by ex Hawkwind bassist, Dave Anderson, who led the band through a two day recording and mixing program and binge trips to the local SPAR ! The result was, once again, another 6 tracks which would go on to become the bands debut eponymously titled EP (available on the news page).

The band were kept busy for the next few months, designing artwork for the CD and rehearsing intensely for the planned CD launch party scheduled for December '99. I don't know if anyone will remember the party, (the band certainly don't - something to do with the vast amount of alcohol drunk apparently!) but the response was fantastic deeming the party a success!

The next few months that followed, the band were very busy , with gigs in Aston University and support slots with the signed Welsh bands "The Big Leaves" and "Gwacamoli" (both in Feb). These gigs led rapidly into another recording session, this time to demo a further 7 tracks written and completed by the band since the "Foel" sesions, a quick mixing session followed (two nights) and Stealth's "ZERO CREDEBILITY" demo was born.

March 2000 saw Stealth's first visit to the capital for a showcase gig in a club called "GOSSIPS" in SOHO. Stealth took a bus full of loyal fans with them who were the noisiest, loudest crowd I think that London has ever seen! Another success.

A Festival appearance followed in May in The Mid Wales Music Festival once again (2 years after their first ever gig!!), where the band played their heart out in the blistering midday Sun to an eager crowd who enjoyed the performance.

Stealth's second appearance in London happened at the end of May, with a performance in Camden's premier nightclub "DINGWALLS", made famous by acts such as U2, Blur, Jools Holland and many more. Once again the bus of travelling fans went with the band and put the London villagers to shame with their cheers and applause for the band.

The band played fantastically and as a result they were asked to return to play at the exclusive "SOUND REPUBLIC" club on Leicester Square in London in August.

The date arrived very quickly and once again the bus full of fans saw the band put on one of their performances of a lifetime (see the "photos" page for an idea of what they got up to) in Londons newest, hottest venue. They played their most pumping set to date and put everything they had into it (and a bit more looking at the height of Dylan's jumps!!). A success. All his in the same week as being quoted on BBC Radio as "The freshest, newest sounding rock band to come out of Wales for the past few months, keep an eye on them, they're going to be huge!!". Kind words indeed.

This leads up to the present day, the band are still rehearsing and writing and have another 7 new songs which they are in the process of learning, increasing their phenomenal catalogue once again.

Keep an eye on the "gigs" page to find out when and where the band are playing again - try and catch them if you can, it'll probably be a night you wont forget!
